MAGIC BLENDS--- Model Town, Delhi

MAGIC BLENDS ........A Small Joint with Big Aspirations...... Awesome Food.......

It was really a hot and humid day …today… No rains and all sweat…. But hunger was at its peak when I was passing by Model Town, Delhi (Near North Campus) today…. ..My first home …the place which takes me down the memory lane and brings back my childhood memories to my mind creating nostalgia…………..
Thought of meeting a friend …an old school friend.  So called her up and told that, I wanted to eat something , to my surprise she invited me to a food joint, which is owned by a family friend of hers…….
Driving down the by lanes we reached the main market area of Model Town  Part-II….  This place is located next to “Gift House” a very old shop in this area….

A small and cozy place called “Magic Blends” was the joint we were searching for, and finally we reached. We were welcomed very courteously by the owner Mr. Vipin Gandhi..The outlet is managed by female staff and is kept sparkling clean and tidy...…….
In the scorching heat when humidity was at its peak and rain was playing hide and seek. I was too thirsty…… Ordered a chilled Iced Tea…. Which was good…and cold….my brother had butter scotch milkshake which was very nicely done too…..

Mr. Gandhi suggested us to have their Butter Chicken Roll….yes u heard it right Butter Chicken in a Roll…. ….. It made me curious too…. So ordered one…. It was very nicely made with full taste of butter chicken without loads of butter and fat in it…..the roll was also not dripping with oil ….I was told that their rolls and other items are made only with a touch of butter and not loads of ghee or oil or any other form of fat (like we have at Nizams or Chowringhee lane).. I am not saying that these places don’t serve good rolls, but they are not healthy at all….. so can’t be had every other day….

We also had the Mutton Seekh roll, which was very unusual as it was blended with a continental style sauce and not the usual green chutney and other bottled unhealthy sauces ……. This item was the star of the day…..Very well made full of flavor……

Shared a chicken salad too… which was done well too….. Quantity can be improved a bit…… Pasta was good (liked the red sauce more). …. …. We also had an Onion Capsicum Pizza…… the style in which it was done, took me back to my childhood days. When we could only have pizzas and burgers at Nirula’s….
This pizza was full of cheese and crunchy veggies and tasted very good………

The best part is, being such a small joint they are doing everything so professionally that its unbelievable. I saw small posters stuck on the inside walls of the store……I was told that they were the documented recipes which were made as per the portion size to be served.  So that whoever makes the respective dish, standard and taste remains consistent…… Even the shakes are not made with liquefied milk …..Milk is kept frozen in form of cubes in per portion size packets….so that the shakes don’t have to be diluted with ice when they are served…..WOW what an approach to maintain taste and quality standards !!!

It does not matter how small you are…..it all depends upon your level of thinking and professionalism…
The way this man has done this outlet with limited items like superb sandwiches, pastas, rolls , shakes and also made to order Dal makhani, paneer and butter chicken etc. is stupendously brilliant. The only drawback is the location of this joint i.e. it’s a little off the hustle bustle of the 2nd stop market of Model Town……

My Ratings are .....

Food --- 4.0 / 5.0
