Trout is one of the healthiest fish you can include in
your diet. Farmed trout, especially farmed rainbow trout, is a better choice
than wild lake/river trout, since farmed trout is raised in freshwater ponds
(farms) and raceways that are protected from environmental contaminants. The
American Heart Association recommends consuming a 3.5-ounce serving of cooked
fish like trout at least two times a week. Maximize trout's health benefits by
choosing low-fat cooking methods like broiling, grilling, baking or steaming
instead of fried or breaded fish.
A cooked serving of farmed rainbow trout contains
approximately 981 milligrams of the omega-3 fatty acids. A diet high in omega-3
fatty acids is linked to a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease,
hypertension, high blood cholesterol and certain types of cancer. Omega-3 fatty
acid consumption may also help prevent neurological disorders like dementia,
depression, bipolar disorder and Alzheimer's disease.
The 21 grams of protein provided by a 3-ounce serving of
rainbow trout supplies 37 percent of the recommended daily allowance for an
adult man and nearly 46 percent of the daily need for an adult woman.
But to derive all these benefits, here in metro cities
of Delhi/Ncr is a tough proposition. As , the Trout only breeds and is found in
colder areas of Kullu and Manali (HP), and some parts of J & K and
Uttarakhand. But recently, as the food culture is growing & expanding, each
day something new is either being planned or showcased, we are lucky enough to
have such a super product in the heart of Delhi itself and that too in the
freshest form, cooked in the healthiest manner.
We tried the Grilled Trout, which was very well made at the
Barcelos, Khan Market, the South African food chain famous for its Peri Peri
Grilled Chicken and Burgers. As told to us by
Mr.Rohit Malhotra ( GM. Ops. Barcelos, India) ,” We source our Trout
from the Farms in Manali, by air twice a week, to maintain freshness as far as
possible. Marination of the fish is done at our end, in special ingredients, it
is flame grilled in a choice of peri peri sauce. Grilling, without any kind of
oil or fat added makes it even healthier to eat. The platter is served with
grilled vegetables and fries / wedges as per the customer’s choice. They love
to serve Trout, as it has a special place in Portuguese cuisine too. There is
hardly any other place in India, which serves the Peri Peri trout other than,
Barcelos “
