JUNGLEE BILLEE - AWESOME

Junglee Billee Studio Bar is the latest addition to the much competitive restaurant scene in Delhi.Located in the much coveted and posh market of GK 1 M Block, just next to Sakleys cafe.
Again not to forget like most other places in the same mkt this place also does not have an elevator. Done, on 3 levels starting 1st floor, the bar and seating area with a small balcony with seating , 2nd floor, all seating till 3rd floor which is a terrace with a small water body . This place has really quirky interiors themed as per the 1970’s retro style. The space is all about quirky set-ups-Bombay Velvet meets modern quirk. Attractive wallpaper patterns- developed keeping in mind the strong yet fluid nature of Art Nouveau. Wallpapers, upholstery etc all has long flowery vines on them. Old artefacts like typewriter, lamps and other things adorn the wall canopies and show areas. On the 2nd floor it's a big seating area with a DJ console. Mostly all the places and table tops are made in onyx . B&W pictures of old time heroines and old style jewellery in the show windows makes this place really special.

We sat on the terrace which has heaters etc for cold days. Coming to the Menu which has been curated and done by our very own famous Chef, Sabyasachi Gorai or as we all know him Chef Saby. The name behind the much appreciated eating joints like Olive, SBOW , Amreli and his own baby Lavaash by Saby.

Chef Pawan Bisht who is the Exec. Chef at Junglee Billee met us and recommended us a few dishes. We ordered as per his advice. Soups like mushroom and Apple and tomato both were really awesome. Dishes like Md. Ali Rd. Chicken Boti which is kind of tikka bit all covered in a buttered mix yummy and soft ro the core and Sion Koliwada Chicken is a fried chicken in a masala batter served with Chipotle mayo. The Bhaijaan seekh kebab was one of the best, 2 most delicious and succulent grilled seekh kebabs served over a big maida parantha with loads of onions. Awesome...awesome...awesome. .. The next was the Prawn Aglio Olio which is a sizzler dish made with olives, sundried tomatoes white wine and Prawns. My colleague tried it and just fell flat by their taste and texture. He said he had never tasted prawns like that before. Totally awesome.

I was eagerly waiting for the Berry pulao which is again a Parsi inspired dish. And yes what a great Berry mutton pulao. Layered fragrant rice with boneless pieces of lamb and nuts and Berries all over. The sweet and Tangy flavor was so good , can't be expressed in words.

The continental section is really good too.Like the prawns which we had and now we also tried their Bangers and Mash which is a platter of chargrilled sausages on a bed of green pea ash, potato mash and caramelised onions with loads of BBQ sauce. It was again a real hearty dish too and perfectly apt for this cold weather.

Finally, we had a real good dessert called the Mava Cheese Cake made with Khoya mix topped with a cherry.  The Apple pie with ice cream was also good but the Mava Cheese cake won the race. Overall a must visit place especially for quirky interiors and awesome food.
