Crowne Plaza Hotel, Okhla, New Delhi is a very nice and
very well positioned property in terms of location and highly impressive
interiors. The elegance just flows as you enter the lobby which is done
brightly with marble flooring and chandelier shining like a star.
I was there a few days back for dinner at their most
talked about restaurant Chao Bella, yes you read it right: its Chao for Chinese
and Bella for Italian under one roof.
But my concentration was only towards Chinese food this
time as they are celebrating the Chinese New Year the Year of the Monkey which
signifies good fortune, wealth and longevity among family, friends and
prosperity to enjoy the delectable feast which features Chinese fare in real
good ambiance and atmosphere. Chao Bella is a beautifully done place with varied
seating options and styles, lounge type as well as semi private seating at the
corners covered three sides with walls. An open kitchen welcomes you on one
side and the Bar is at the entrance which is well stocked and nicely displayed.
The Festival is a super hit till now as the dishes on
offer are a too good. I tried the Longevity Glass noodle soup with chicken
which was a clear broth with crunchy and fresh veggies and chicken. Really
wholesome and yummy. Then we ordered the Dimsums, which are a specialty out
here from the regular menu. We tried most of them like Asian green and Garlic
chive dumplings also the Chicken covered in steamed rice dumplings and also the
pan fried pork jiaozi dumplings. I must say one can specially visit Chao Bella
for the Dimsums and Dumplings, as they are so good. Crispy aromatic Duck rolls were a real good
preparation and as authentic as it can be, served with Hoisin sauce. The main
course dishes were also very well prepared as we tried one or two of them like
the Wok fried Pork belly with sacha beans and the Chilean Sea Bass stir fried
with vegetables with Jasmine rice in Eggs and veggies.
For the Desserts, we tried the Cheesecake, Cassata
Siciliano ( Layers of Ice cream and Cake) and the Mantao (sweet pao with orange
sauce and vanilla ice cream). A must have is the Cassata Slice though all were
good.
I must admit, this was one of BEST meals of my life.
Awesome food, excellent service with class ambience. I don’t have even a single
point which I can put against the whole experience. I recommend everyone who
loves oriental cuisine to try this place for an excellent Chinese meal. Exec.
Chef Sudarshan Bhandari and his team has done and are doing a fabulous job. Kudos
to the whole team.
Next, I will surely review and write on the Italian fare
available at this restaurant. , and I am sure that will also be one of the most
rocking one.
