Located in Shoppers Stop Mall, on the top floor , very
well connected to the Rajouri Gdn. metro station is this place called Aanch.
Nicely done up place with 3 different sections catering to a different set of
people and their requirements. The main entry opens up to reveal the lobby with Aanch – The Fine Dine Restaurant, Kash – The Hookah Lounge
and XTC – The Lounge Bar. They have ample AL fresco seating too, but
suits well only in good weather conditions. They cater well to big crowds at
parties as well.
We were invited to Aanch , a few days back for a tasting
session of their going to be launched new “Terrific 25” menu.
The Menu is nicely curated keeping their target customer
in mind. It has the essence of India with a modern twist. Dishes like the Tawa
ka Burrah, Chooza Murg, Mahabali Paneer Tikka, Gabbar ke Sholey , Smoked mushroom
galauti etc. are not new to any of us but presenting them in a new way with
their touch of spices and so on makes this menu a must try for all.
They have taken care of the vegetarians as well as the
non vegetarians by equally working on both the dishes. The Mushroom skewers and
the Veg cheese quessedillas plus a few more dishes are great examples of good
vegetarian options.
Non veg dishes like the Balti murg, Creamy gosht and the
Haleem are new innovations for this place and are well done. The Haleem is not
an easy dish to get right but the chef has done his homework well and got it
very much close the authentic one. The creamy gosht is a white gravy lamb dish
which I liked much as I love somewhat subtle flavors too. The Dal Makhni was
good but not as per my taste. The presentation is very well taken care of, and
each and every thing has been tried to be presented in a different manner.
They have also introduced a few new Cocktails and
Mocktails . I tried the Foggy Delhi (Gin or vodka with ginger juice, ginger
bread syrup, lime juice, topped with ginger ale) and loved it thoroughly. It
was really amazing and unique. The Caramel Old Fashioned (Bourbon, orange & aromatic bitter
with caramelized sugar and water ) is a
nice twist to the regular Old Fashioned. Also some of the Mocktails like the
Anarkali (Freshly squeezed pomegranate juice, mint syrup, orange bitter, lime
juice, chat masala black salt, served in a martini glass) , Pure Veg (Cucumber
nectar fresh ginger juice, angostura bitter fresh cucumber slice, mixed and
served in tall glass) were also really well made.
All in all , a nice and happening place which has been
in existence since last 5 odd years and has fulfilled its guest’s expectations till
date, is back with a bang with its newly innovated Menu.
This will really bring back the much needed
fire back into Aanch. Great place for family dinners as well as a nice hangout
with friends over a sheesha and some great drinks and food.
