Food has taken the center stage with cookery shows and
culinary competitions flooding the limelight these days. As Indian chefs are
getting Michelin stars and becoming brand ambassadors of the Indian cuisine,
the language of food is definitely changing and going onto the next level.
To provide boost to the young talent and get them acquainted
with the latest trends in the food and hospitality industry, the International
Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) and the Union Ministry of Tourism started organizing
the Young Chef Olympiad from 2015.
Dr. Suborno Bose is the founder of Young Chef Olympiad
concept and chairman of the organizing committee of the event and Chief Mentor
of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM). Under his expert
guidance this contest is running into the 3rd year now.
Speaking about the grand event, Dr. Suborno Bose, said,
“The intention is to scale up every year and globally reach out to as many
countries as possible for the culinary event. Food has always been the biggest unifier
and continues to be so in today’s day and age.”
This contest offers participants and viewers a taste of
the cooking techniques and presentation style of the restaurant industry, and
presents these to us in ways that make them seem both aspirational and
desirable.
The 3rd
YCO will be inaugurated in New Delhi on 27th January, 2017 and
will cover Pune, Bangalore and then finally reach Kolkata for the Grand Finale
to be held on 1st February, 2017.
The Taj Group, Hyatt Regency, Leela Hotels, Oberoi
amongst others will be the hospitality partners for the event.
