Cuisine is definitely a very important aspect of Italian
culture. Italian food is highly famed:greatly loved and tirelessly
imitated the world over, it has been a source of endless pleasure and joie-de-vivre
in countries far and wide. And everyone knows how a tired, depressed individual
will react if they come across a sign for Italian dining in the midst of a
busy, industrial city anywhere in the world: their hearts will quite simply
will glow!
Italian
cookery is exceptionally varied, nutritious and healthy; traditions have been
handed down from one family to the next over the centuries, and are associated
mainly with country life in that dishes are directly linked to what the Earth
produces over the changing seasons: in other words, wholesome cooking whose
goodness depends on all-natural ingredients.
Most
ingredients used in Italian cuisine are easily available in India, now. For the
last many years, the 3rd most popular cuisine in India has been
Italian after Indian and Chinese. We have many restaurants serving nice Italian
food in every part of the country. We are lucky to be in Gurgaon as its melting
pot of many cuisines and people are well travelled and know what is authentic
and what not.
One
of the best Italian restaurant chains in the city is “Italiano”owned by the
most passionate Mrs. and Mr. Puri. In our conversation, he told us that he
never liked Indian cuisine which finally led him to open “Italiano”

It
was a lovely Sunday afternoon, when we were here for Lunch at the Cyberhub
outlet. The ambience is really inviting with outdoor as well as indoor seating
options. We sat outside and ordered our food. The first to arrive was the bread
basket that was served with butter that had a prominent flavor of oregano. The
bread was not very soft. Then we were served with the Bruschetta (tomato, basil
and mozzarella), very refreshing and very tasty. We ordered a pitcher of Virgin
Sangria which was again very well made with all the authentic ingredients like
celery and wooster sauce being used well. I ordered the Caesar Salad (chicken)
which is my favourite and was not disappointed at all as it was really well
made with the right amount of dressing. We ordered Italiano platters both veg
as well as non veg. The veg platter had the Veg Tart, Mushroom and Bell Pepper
Panzarotti and Cottage Cheese skewers which were served with the Wood fired
Bread, Salsa Verde, Aioli and the Spicy Peanut Dip. Looked really appetizing
and vegetarians really relished the tarts and the skewers. I personally loved
the Non veg platter which had the Crispy chicken strips, Olive Panzarotti and
Pesto chicken skewers served the bread, salsa verde and the peanut dip. The
best item was the crispy strips of chicken. Other items were a little dry for
me.
They
have a nice variety in main course too. I tried the Grilled Fish fillet with
braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes, topped with dill sauce. The fish was
done nicely but the sides lacked flavors and texture. The vegetarians tried the
Cottage cheese stuffed ( steak like) served with buttered veggies and paprika
sauce. The thin crust wood fired pizzas were served both in veg as well as non
veg toppings. I was full so did not even try them, but they really looked very
nicely baked and totally inviting.
Everyone
was longing for desserts when we were served with the Tiramisu Cake and the
Blueberry Cheese cake. the Tiramisu was still tolerable but the cheesecake was
not the NY cheese cake at all , it was just a simple cake.
Overall,
a very nice and beautiful place to have hearty Italian food with friends and
family. They should work on their Desserts a bit. Rest all is fine , and I am
visiting them again soon.
